Standing firm: Meet the small Germantown company that won a $106M verdict against a Chinese furniture giant

On June 17, a federal jury ruled in favor of Germantown electronics firm Raffel Systems LLC after a two-week trial for an intellectual property case in which Raffel alleged Man Wah Holdings Ltd. Inc. created and sold counterfeit, defective versions of Raffel's patented light-up cup holder for reclining furniture. The jury awarded Raffel Systems more than $106 million, making it among the largest verdicts in the U.S. Eastern District of Wisconsin court, according to Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, the primary law firm representing Raffel.
