FAQ’s for Battery Packs manufactured on or after 21-12

How do I know when my battery pack was manufactured?

  • How long the battery lasts will depend on the load size, number of motion seats, and accessories.
  • Accessories like Bluetooth, USB Ports and light strips may drain the battery.
  • Depending on load size, furniture configuration, and accessories, the battery can last up to 800-900 cycles.

How long will the battery last on one charge?

  • How long the battery will last depends on the load size, number of motion seats, and accessories.
  • Accessories like Bluetooth, USB Ports and light strips may drain the battery.
  • Depending on load size, furniture configuration, and accessories, the battery can last up to 800-900 cycles.

How do I know if I need to charge my battery?

  • Press the Test Button on the side of the unit. If the Test LED status is red, then the battery needs to charge.
  • If the Test LED is amber, then the battery pack does not need to be charged immediately but will need to charge soon.
  • If the Test LED status is green, the battery is charged and ready to be used.
  • Charging instructions can be found in the user manual.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

  • Allow 7 hours of charging for the battery to be fully charged.
  • Using the furniture while the battery is charging may require a longer charging time.

Can I let the battery completely lose its charge?

  • Do not allow the battery to drain completely as this may reduce the overall life of the battery. At minimum, charge the battery every 6 months.

Can I use my furniture while the battery pack is plugged into the wall outlet?

  • Yes, you can use the furniture while the battery is plugged into the wall outlet and charging. Using the furniture while the battery is charging may require a longer charging time.
  • It is advised to unplug the battery from the wall outlet once it is fully charged.

What if the battery pack runs out of power while I am using my motion furniture?

  • If you run the motion furniture until there is no more battery power, then simply plug the battery pack into the wall outlet and two things happen:
    • The battery pack will begin charging; AND
    • You can resume using the furniture after a few minutes as it will operate off the internal power supply while the battery is charging.
    • Raffel has custom circuitry in our Battery Packs that will allow the battery to be charged fully even after the battery no longer can power the motion furniture. Any rechargeable lithium-ion battery needs regular use and charging, and we strongly recommend the battery pack is charged every six months, at a minimum, to ensure the life and performance of the battery is maintained.

Will the battery work with my furniture?

  • Our battery is compatible with most major furniture brands.
  • Furniture from La-Z-Boy may need an additional adaptor cord. Please contact Raffel at customerservice@raffel.com or 888-987-1011 to order a cord.

How do I install my Raffel Battery Pack?

  • Installation guides and videos can be found here.

Where should I put my battery in the furniture?

  • Place the battery on the floor or inside of the furniture.
  • Make sure that the battery and its cords will not interfere with the furniture’s motors.
  • If the battery pack moves or is suspended in the air when reclining, place the battery in a better location. An extension cord may be required.

What happens if I don’t use the battery for 6 months?

  • Rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries have a limited life and will gradually lose their capacity to hold a charge.
  • Do not leave batteries unused for extended periods, either in the product or in storage.
  • If a battery has been unused for 6 months, check the charge status and fully charge the battery prior to using.

How do I store my battery?

  • Remove the battery from the furniture and store it separately. Prior to storage, charge the battery to at least 40%, which is in the amber range of LED test light.
  • Place into sleep mode by holding the test button for five seconds until the Test and Charge LEDs flash green.
  • Every six months, check the battery status and charge.
  • Store the battery at temperatures between 41 °F and 68 °F (5 °C and 20 °C).

What can I do to keep my battery healthy?

  • Unplug the battery from the wall outlet once it is fully charged. Keeping it plugged into the wall outlet may reduce its ability to hold a charge.
  • Charge the battery at least every 6 months.
  • Do not allow the battery to drain completely before charging it.
  • Do not expose the battery to temperatures above 140°F (60 °C).

Is a 5000mAh battery pack strong enough to operate furniture with multiple motion seats?

  • Yes, Raffel’s 5000mAh battery pack is able to operate various sectionals, recliners, and other motion furniture.

Will my USB Charging Ports drain the battery pack?

  • USB Charging Ports and other accessories draw power from the battery pack to operate.
  • While the USB Charging Port is not in use, the charging circuit is still active, and will continue to draw a small amount of power from the battery.

How can I prevent the USB Charging port from draining the battery pack?

  • Raffel offers mounted controls with USB ports that feature Raffel’s patented Tranquilcharge™ Technology. With this technology, the USB port only draws power from the battery when in use. Ask your furniture retailer if your USB ports have Tranquilcharge™ Technology.

  • Red: the battery pack needs to charge in order to properly operate the furniture.
